Aug. 11th 1873/ Dear Edward:/ Your letter of the 9th/ inst. is before me. I have considered/ very carefully your suggestions and plans/ for the future and with some of your/ ideas I fully concur; By the way I am/ glad that the salt air agrees with you,/ and that your health has recovered so/ gratifyingly. Now with regard to/ canvassing. I think you would do well/ to stop at Newark, but I am inclined/ to think that it would not be the part of/ wisdom to stop in Brooklyn now./ You would scarcly[sic] have time to make a/ beginning before you would have/ to leave hence, more harm than good/ would only be the result. I agree with/ Your notion off[sic] giving New Haven &/ Hartford the go by for the present, as/ it seems but reasonable that you/ should be in Baltimore soon. Certainly/ by the 10th of Dec Sep. You now see my views,/ and can act upon them as you may/ think proper./ I am serving on jury this week &/ will be next quite likely./ Your letter went to Caddy on/ Saturday – She remained while Mr. & Mrs Jones/ came up Saturday – He is very sick,/ and I think nigh his end. I have just/ come from his house, but as he was/ sleeping I failed to see him./ Our family are very well./ Yours affectionately/ W Still/
