By so/ doing you could favor/ yourself, going when the/ weather seemed best suited,/ whereas if you were away/ you'd be apt to go rain/ or shine hail or snow./ You did not tell me whether/ Mary paid that money/ or not . I would like/ to know. BY the way/ Mr Francis called this/ morning with your valise/ and frightened us I tell you/ I thought they were surely/ bringing you home sick/ or dead I did not know/ which. He soon explain/ =ed himself however and/ I felt much relieved./ He came home Monday/ night but it has been/ so rainy ever since that/ he succeeded in getting here/ only this morning./ Mr Jones is still better./ [When?] has come home./ There are several strangers/ in the city I believe Mi[xxx?]/ Gibbs leaves here for Oberlin/ to-day and his brother for/ Florida. Pop hopes to get/ off of the Jury to-day and he/ and Ma can then go to/ Uncle/ Barnes' to/ morrow/ Nel comes/ home from/ Kate's to-/ day where/ she has/ been two/ week to-/ morrow/ Much love/ from Ma/ Willie and/ Your devoted/ wife - Carrie/
